STAR AF Supports BPKP's Audit and Data Security
Enhancing Government Accountability: STAR AF Boosts Auditing and Data Security at BPKP
Indonesia, with support from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), is continuing its efforts to improve public sector accountability through the STAR Additional Financing ADB Loan No. 3872-INO (STAR AF) project. This project builds on a previous successful initiative and aims to provide training for government auditors and finance managers across ministries and local governments.
To do this effectively, BPKP, the government's internal auditor, needs strong IT systems and data security. In today's digital age and considering the challenges of COVID-19, using secure technology for tasks like electronic surveillance and data protection is crucial. BPKP has already made significant progress in shifting to IT-based processes, thanks to previous financing. Now, with STAR AF, they plan to develop a Continuous Audit and Continuous Monitoring (CACM) system to improve their audit capabilities and risk management.
In addition to enhancing their IT systems, BPKP recognizes the critical need for robust data security. They've witnessed data breaches, particularly within government circles, often resulting from malware attacks and security risks linked to the use of personal devices by auditors. To rectify this, BPKP is focused on equipping their auditors with secure IT devices, aiming to mitigate the vulnerabilities associated with the prevalent use of personal equipment.
As of the scheduled delivery date on September 4, 2023, BPKP received the PCs, marking a significant step in enhancing their IT capabilities and ensuring data security. This investment is crucial in BPKP's ongoing commitment to upholding government accountability and effective auditing practices.
